Owners of iPhone 6 (and Plus) phones have a fairly robust video camera considering it can record 120 frames per second in 1080p and 240fps in 720p. I have been wanting to leverage the high frame rate video capabilities of the iPhone 6, but needed a way to mount it on a tripod.
Rather than trying manufacture my own tripod mount, I ended up coming across the Shoulderpod S1 Professional Smartphone Rig by Adento, and ordering one.
It’s sold as a multi-use solution in that you can use it as a handheld ‘steady’ grip, a mini phone stand, or as tripod mount. I was only really interested in the tripod mount solution.
The S1 is a fairly simple concept. It is essentially a plastic C-clamp that can hold the iPhone 6 (encased or case-less), and the S1 itself has standard 1/4-20 tripod threads on the bottom.
The next time I’m at the shooting range, I’ll try using the iPhone to record some 120fps and 240fps video.
