Last week I was at the range shooting an AR with an SPR-style upper that was refreshed with a Geissele Super Modular Rail MK18 which has an Arca dovetail and RRS-Lock milled into the bottom of the handguard.
This time around, I have the same rifle but with the addition of a Holosun 507C mounted to the Area 419 One-Piece scope mount with the Area 419 35-degree Offset Mount and High Profile Red Dot mount (RMR footprint).
I spent the range session zeroing the Holosun 507C at 50 yards and also tested out new loads.
My standard 77gr load for the AR is 24.0gr Alliant RL15 in Lake City brass with a quality primer. Since I stopped buying Alliant RL15 (due to the fact that I no longer shoot competitive Service Rifle), I made some 77gr loads using Alliant AR Comp. I acquired quite a bit of this in the early 2010s when there was another shortage of ammunition and components, as AR Comp was not as popular as the other staple powders for the AR platform (specifically Hodgdon Varget, Alliant RL15, and Vihtavouri N140).
