CNN.com ran an article mentioning how some out of work parents are still spoiling their kids this holiday season. The woman cited in the article apparently lost her job, and is worrying about money for food, yet still had no problem spending $600 on toys as Christmas gifts for her 3 year old daughter.
WTF?
I don’t understand why parents think they have to spoil their kids with tons of gifts on Christmas. Much less in anytime where economic times are tough. This woman is basically like the other parents who will go on eBay to spend 2 or 3 times as much as the retail value to get a Nintendo Wii for their kid(s).
Apparently, even at Christmas, it’s more important to get your kid toys than buy your kid food.
Buying gifts isn’t necessary to show your kids you love them. A good beating every now and then has the same effect. Worked on me.
