I picked up a copy of OS 10.5 from the UCR Computer Store this morning and installed it on my Macbook. All I can say is that 10.5 is awesome.
For one, the Stacks feature in the Dock is a long awaited feature. It’s a slicker way to access various items including Applications, Documents, and custom folders.
Boot Camp is a bit slicker as far as user friendliness. I like the fact that there is a utility that remains in the System Tray while running in XP under Boot Camp, so you can easily restart back in OS X with only a couple mouse clicks.
Spaces is a great feature, but I think it needs work. There needs to be an easy way to move an open application’s window(s) from one desktop to another desktop.
Though, I found a quirk with X11 in 10.5 with multiple displays. For some reason, I cannot move any X11 windows from my primary display to the secondary display. An X11 terminal or other X11 related window can be partially moved to the secondary, but it won’t move all the way. Plus, if X11 is kept in the Dock and is launched using the Dock link, it will hang.
